The amount retained on your credit card depends on the model of the vehicle rented and range from USD 1,200.00 to USD 3,000.00 per contract. The funds are released at the end of the rental.

This deposit is a temporary blockage made to your credit card that is released at the end of the rental once the vehicle is returned without any damages or additional charges. The amount retained varies depending on the vehicle rented and the coverage selected.

If at the time of returning the vehicle no damage is found, you do not have any additional charges or any traffic violation, the blockage will be released. This procedure can take up to a maximum of 3 weeks depending on the bank that issued your credit card. If it is not released in that period, you can request a letter of support to start the process with your issuing bank by sending an email at: [email protected] with the following information:

  1. Name on the contract.
  2. Date the contract was finalized.
  3. Credit card issuing bank.

How long is the waiting time for the release of the security deposit?

  • National credit cards: 4-7 days.
  • International credit cards: approximately a month.
  • The waiting time is subject to the policies of the issuing bank of the credit card.

Tourism tax 4%, Sales tax 15%, airport fee 10% (if car is rented at an airport)

  • Rates: AVIS rates include the rental of the car for a certain period of time (day, week, month) and unlimited mileage. The minimum rental charge will be for one day, regardless of whether the customer uses the car only for part of that time. For Oour coverage options, these are charged in full their entirety from the moment they are purchased of purchase. The rental rate does not include payment of fines, infractions, towing service, gasoline, leaving the car inanother city (Drop-Off or One Way), or any other charges attributable to thecustomer.
  • Taxes (IVA): All charges related to the rental of the vehicle are subject to the value-added tax (15% + 4%) in effect in Honduras.
  • Airport Fee: Applies only at airport offices and is a 10% airport tax charged daily to the rental of the vehicle.
  • One-Way Charge (Drop-Off): This charge only applies if the customer wishes to take the car in one city and return it in another. The amount for this concept charge varies according to the distance between the cities and the details of this amount are itemized in the quote and/or confirmation. Cars can only be returned to locations where there are AVIS offices*.

The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 25 years old.

  • Unexpired driver’s license.
  • ID, passport, or residence ID.
  • Credit card.

Client can pay with a credit or debit card. Security deposits must be made with a credit card.

Fluctuating exchange rate, confirm with the credit card issuing bank or banking institution.
